I drew out a variety of different faces initially as I didn't know how much detail I would want to put in the images overall. The realisation of wanting to put expression and experiment more with characterisation, which is something I usually shy away from, made me draw multiples and consider what Mary could look like.

Finally! I am done with the faces in illustration 1 and 3, the finishing touches were making the features slightly darker so they were more readable amongst the rest of the imagery. I feel very relieved about this because I have been going round in circles trying to find a way of drawing the faces I was happy with.
